District Assemblies and Provision of Social Services in Ghana. Interrogating Educational and Health Care Infrastructure and Services in Bekwai Municipality

This study assesses District Assemblies’ contributions towards the provision of educational and health care infrastructure services in Bekwai Municipality. Questionnaires were administered to one hundred (100) households fifty (50) Assembly Members while in-depth interviews conducted with Municipal Directors Education Health Services as well Planning Chief Executive Officers. The chi-square test statistics employed inferential analysis. It was found out that activities have expanded education infrastructure. seen consistent increase providing more school facilities renovating dilapidated ones CHPS compounds remote areas provide basic services. Despite these achievements, for than three decades into implementation decentralisation policy, there still exist inequalities most communities Municipal. In order improve equality access within context decentralisation, recommends: should be fully supervised by respective departments at sub-national level; must go through proper identification operational stages ensure adequate stakeholders participation capacity assembly enhanced.
